Aromatherapy //

The National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy, or NAHA, describes aromatherapy as an art and science that works to provide psychological, emotional and physical benefits to treat or prevent conditions.

The inhaled aroma or absorbed oils can stimulate brain function and travel through the bloodstream to promote whole-body healing.

Aromatherapy is gaining popularity in a variety of applications, including pain relief, mood enhancement, increased cognitive function and everyday stress.

Aromatherapy may be found to be helpful to those wanting to reduce everyday stress and so help with the ability to cope, relax and sleep. As well as being used in individual therapy sessions and at home, it is also used in a variety of settings, including hospitals and hospices.

What to Expect From Aromatherapy

After the consultation, one or more essential oils are selected based on what you need and are mixed in with the massage oil or lotion.

The subtle aroma of the essential oils fill the air around you during the massage.

After the massage, the massage therapist may suggest a blend that you can use at home in between massage treatments.

Practitioners

As with all therapists make sure you are comfortable with your therapist and that they are fully qualified.
